Companies should use gender-neutral expressions when greeting their employees/clients.

First of all, it’s really not that hard to say ‘hello everyone’ instead of ‘hello ladies and gentlemen. In fact, it’s even easier to use gender-neutral expressions.

Secondly, some people don’t know which gender they are exactly or they don’t want to put a word on it. I think we should respect this. We don’t know what’s going through a person’s mind or how they feel. I find that you should not judge but respect everyone else. So if they don’t know or don’t want to say which gender they are, we should respect that.

Furthermore, for people who know who they are, it really doesn’t change anything. But for people who are struggling with really knowing who or what they are, it’s a big deal which gives them reassurance and a better feeling.

So, what I’m saying is that I find that companies should replace ‘ladies and gentlemen’ with ‘everyone’ whenever they greet their employees/clients. It’s really not that hard, it’s even easier to use gender-neutral expressions. Second, we need to respect everyone, also the people who don’t know what gender or who they are. At last, it’s not that of a big deal. There doesn’t change anything for people who know who or what gender they are. But for the people struggling with themselves and who they are, it means a lot and it gives them a better feeling. (BBC News, 2020)
